Lighthouse Quilters - Kids Sewing

Children's Program Room. This class is currently full - watch the calendar for other sewing classes. The Children's Department will offer a monthly quilting program for ages 7-12. Children will sew blocks that will then be joined together to make a quilt. We will be using a strip quilting technique that creates a diamonds and stripes pattern with many colors. They are so fun! Class will either meet on Mondays or Thursdays, and because we're using strips of fabric, it's okay if kids have to miss a class occasionally. Parents should be aware that: - This is a year-long project - please only sign up if you can commit to attendance over that period of time. - The Library will provide the white accent fabric. Families will be responsible for either: purchasing a fabric pack of different colored fabrics (more info after registration) or possibly using scrap fabric from our quilting volunteers. Families should also be aware that to finish the quilt, the Library brings in a professional long arm quilter, and there is a cost for the service. That cost comes at the end of the project, and families are not required to finish their quilts to participate, although we'd certainly like every child to end the year with a quilt! - Parent volunteers are greatly appreciated. If you have small children with you, it's best that you remain in the play area for their safety.
