About this event
Community Room - Lobby Level, West Nyack Free Library. "Leave the Leaves" is an ecological movement based on scientific research and popularized by conservation organizations to encourage homeowners to let go of the notion that leaves are litter. Fallen leaves are actually a crucial natural resource that provide vital wildlife habitat, support a complex food web, fertilizer, weed suppression and soil improvement. Plants and animals are in serious decline for many reasons, including habitat loss. Come learn strategies that will make a significant positive impact in your own yard, while saving you work and money. Meet some of the creatures you will be saving." The speaker is a Master Gardener from Cornell Cooperative Extension, Rockland.
