About this event

This beginner-friendly workshop introduces the core techniques of traditional leathercraft to make a laced leather shoulder bag. Learn hands-on processes of making a pattern, cutting pieces, and trimming laces for assembly. Various leather types, uses of leather, and terms will be discussed. Demonstrations of how to safely use tools and punches will also be instructed. By the end of the workshop, you will have crafted a functional and durable shoulder bag. The Windgate Art School is generously supported by the Windgate Foundation with additional support from Sherry Worthen in memory of George Worthen. The Windgate Art School’s Reduced Tuition Program is supported by Michael Laughter. Reduced tuition is automatically applied to all classes through 2026. Artwork by Scott Young.
