**Learn to Play West African Djembe Music** Join us at Centennial Commons in Royal Oak for a co-creative afternoon of rhythm, community, and traditional West African djembe music. This interactive lesson is facilitated by passionate students who have studied with experienced teachers in both the U.S. and Guinea, West Africa. You'll learn: * Basic djembe playing techniques * Traditional West African rhythms * The oral histories and cultural context behind the music * How to play together as a percussive ensemble No experience necessary. Beginners are welcome. Whether you're new to drumming or already have experience, this event offers a fun and welcoming environment to connect through rhythm and community ### Cost Sliding-scale donation Suggested contribution: $10–30 ### Drum Rentals Limited djembe rentals available ($10) Only 3 drums are available to rent, so advance registration is required.
