Lang Lang Plays Beethoven Emperor Concerto

Lang Lang, Paavo Järvi and the CSO conclude their Beethoven piano concerto cycle with the Emperor Concerto. Considered one of the greatest piano concertos ever written, this commanding work combines gravitas with swaggering brilliance. “Lang Lang’s extraordinary ability enables him to master the complexities of this challenging work with consummate ease and astonishing fluency” (Calgary Herald). The program begins with Beethoven’s taut, tension-filled ballet overture and the Fourth Symphony, a work that abounds in high spirits and irrepressible humor.
