Join the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra for their exciting first concert of the season under the direction of Maestro Nicholas Wallin. The 2026-2027 subscription season is themed “Inspired Performances” and this first concert features music inspired by dance. We think you’ll be inspired to dance when you hear these beautiful pieces. The concert opens with Márquez’s energetic Conga del Fuego Nuevo. The region and tone changes to eastern Europe with Janáček’s Lachian Dances, a suite of 6 traditional folk dances contrasting soulful slow melodies with rousing celebratory tunes. After a brief intermission, the LFCO performs Beethoven’s Symphony Number 7 in A Major, coined the “apotheosis of dance” by Richard Wagner. The full program, including intermission, runs approximately 90 minutes. Audience members are invited to join the orchestra for a complimentary reception in the Solarium after the concert. Named Community Orchestra of the Year in 2026 by the Illinois Council of Orchestras, the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra’s mission is to inspire communities by sharing musical experiences that provide lifelong learning and that reinvigorate the human spirit.
