About this event
Dutcher Community Room. Tom Denny, retired Skidmore professor and music department chair, will lead this educational presentation on Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata. Please register online. One of the most beloved operas of all time, La Traviata is the story of Violetta Valéry, a Parisian courtesan who falls in love with a nobleman, Alfredo Germont. Despite his family's objections and her declining health, they share one of the greatest love stories of all time. Verdi's masterpiece has influenced contemporary pop culture, serving as the narrative foundation for iconic films like "Pretty Woman" and "Moulin Rouge!" Opera Saratoga will be performing La Traviata at Universal Preservation Hall on December 4.
