Raise the flags, turn up the music and get ready to celebrate! La Fiesta de Elgin returns Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, bringing the excitement of Mexican Independence Day to Downtown Elgin. The colors of papel picado fill the streets, El Ángel the Angel of Independence stands taller, and the celebration is bigger than ever. Festivities begin with a lively morning car caravan, which steps off at 11 a.m. through Downtown Elgin. The celebration continues at Festival Park at 4:30 p.m. with live music, authentic cuisine, and activities for all ages. Plan Your Day La Fiesta de Elgin Car Caravan Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 | 11 a.m. | Downtown Elgin 9 a.m.: Staging. La Fiesta de Elgin car caravan staging begins at 9 a.m. at 901 Center St (old Sherman lot). 11 a.m.: Caravan begins. Cars will step off at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Slade and Douglas Ave and ends at Douglas Ave and Highland Ave, near City Hall. Event logistics: Seating is available along Douglas Avenue. Parking: All parking in Downtown Elgin is free, however, with street closures taking place for the parade, we advise that you arrive early.
