Savory Pot Pies, Mini Apple Pies & Pumpkin Spice Gelato! Roll up your sleeves and become a pie maker! In this hands-on cooking class, our young chefs will learn that pies aren’t just for dessert. Each child will make two individual pies from scratch—a savory chicken pot pie and a sweet mini apple pie. We’ll start by learning the basics of working with pie pastry, then prepare a simple savory filling filled with tender chicken and vegetables in a creamy sauce. Each child will roll out pastry, fill their own pie, add a top crust, and bake it. Then we’ll switch to dessert and make a mini apple pie, combining fresh apples with cinnamon and a touch of sweetness before topping it with pastry and baking it until golden brown. Along the way, we’ll learn some of the fundamentals of good pie making: keeping pastry cold, rolling dough evenly, measuring ingredients, seasoning a filling, sealing a crust, and recognizing when a pie is ready for the oven. To finish off the class, we will learn how to make gelato with our new machine. Pumpkin Spice gelato will be served to our attendees.
