About this event

Children's Area. Get ready to explore! Join Keep Omaha Beautiful educators for a reading of Ruby’s Birds by Mya Thompson, a story about a curious young girl who discovers the wild side of her city with the help of a neighbor. Just like Ruby, we’ll become bird detectives as we learn how to spot clues like color, shape, and size to identify common Nebraska birds. Participants will create their own bird-watching binoculars and then head outside for a guided bird-watching walk. This free event is designed for kids, ages 0-5, but older siblings are welcome to join. This program does not require registration. Childcare groups and other groups larger than 10, please call in advance. All Omaha Public Library locations are wheelchair accessible. Need sign language interpretation or other accessibility assistance for this event? Please email Nancy Novotny at NNovotny@omahalibrary.org to request accommodation. Requests must be made at least five business days before the activity or event.
