Junk journaling is a creative journaling technique that incorporates "junk"—ephemera, scraps, found papers, and everyday items—into a journal or scrapbook. Unlike traditional journals with pristine pages, junk journals embrace: Texture and layers built with paper scraps, fabric, and embellishments Mixed media elements like painting, stamping, and collage Imperfection and authenticity over polished perfection Upcycling and sustainability using items that might otherwise be discarded Personal storytelling through visual and written documentation
