SAN ANTONIO, TX – Downtown West will host Alamo Music’s Guitar Wars, marking the kick-off of Journey West, a new event series in the downtown district. The inaugural event, scheduled for Thursday, October 22, promises an electrifying evening of live music, community spirit, and $5 deals from Downtown West businesses. Local businesses such as Pinkerton’s BBQ, Double Standard, Casa Dōson, Leo’s Hideout, Bar Tree Twenty One, 300 Main, Sojourn Trading Co., and more will showcase their offerings with live music everywhere, $5 deals, and exciting prize opportunities for those who visit three or more spots. Attendees will enjoy free parking at Frost Tower and Alamo Music Center, with complimentary transportation throughout the event for easy navigation between participating locations. At the center of Journey West, Alamo Music’s Guitar Wars, is coming back bigger and better than ever! The longest running guitar competition in the United States is back in Legacy Park from 6pm-11pm. Adriana Flores, owner of Alamo Music states, “Guitar Wars is one of those events that I always wished more people knew about because the talent is so amazing! Transitioning the event from a stand-alone venue to a neighborhood block party where more people get to hear and enjoy the amazing talent of these guitar players, is a dream come true!” Musicians will compete for recognition and local fame, in three categories: electric, acoustic, and other performances of no more than two minutes. A distinguished panel will judge the performers on a scale of 1 to 5 for technique, sound, and musicianship.
