Joslyn & The Sweet Compression

LISTEN TO JOSLYN & THE SWEET COMPRESSION Led by powerhouse vocalist Joslyn Hampton, Lexington, Kentucky’s Joslyn & The Sweet Compression have become a rising force in soul and funk, known for their electrifying live performances and uplifting, groove-driven sound. Their critically acclaimed 2019 debut album established them as a favorite at clubs and music festivals, leading to performances supporting Tower of Power at New York’s Sony Hall and Tyler Childers at Colorado’s legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Their sophomore album, Bona Fide (2023), captures the band’s breathtaking live energy while paying tribute to co-founder and Hampton’s stepfather, Marty Charters, who passed away in 2022. Blending soulful neo-funk with elements of ’70s and ’80s R&B, the album draws inspiration from Hampton’s musical influences, including Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey, as well as her classical vocal training. Describing Bona Fide as a journey through “the human rollercoaster,” Hampton explores the emotions of love, heartbreak, celebration, and the shared human experience. With infectious grooves, powerful vocals, and a message of joy and connection, Joslyn & The Sweet Compression continue to inspire audiences through music that is both deeply personal and irresistibly danceable.
