Join Us for the Brooklyn Heights Photo Shoot (Sat, August 1, 2026 @ 3:00 pm)

Brooklyn Heights is a historic, largely residential neighborhood in Brooklyn known for its tree-lined streets, elegant brownstones, and sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn Bridge from the Promenade and nearby Brooklyn Bridge Park. It was designated New York City’s first historic district in 1965 and contains hundreds of 19th‑century Federal, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, and Italianate row houses that give it a distinctly preserved, old‑New‑York character. We'll begin our walk through the fruit-named Brooklyn Heights streets: Cranberry, Orange, Pineapple, viewing their beautiful Brownstone buildings, then we'll head towards the famous Brooklyn Promenade with its magnificent classic view of Manhattan. Next, we can check on a hidden carriage-house lined street. After this Montague St., with all its shops, will become our next adventure. Along our route we will see Grace Church and have an opportunity to visit additional carriage houses down Grace Court then on to 58 Joralemon St. there lies a mystery surprise. Continuing west along Joralemon St we can head over to the waterfront and then to Brooklyn Bridge Park and Fulton's Landing. PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES Technique Focus: We’ll focus on composition tools like leading lines along the Promenade and tree-lined streets, experiment with depth of field to isolate subjects against cityscapes and use golden hour light to shape mood and texture in both color and black and white frames. Along the waterfront, we’ll practice slower shutter speeds for subtle long exposures of the East River and moving ferries, and hunt for reflections in windows, parked cars, and puddles to create layered, storytelling images you can compare and discuss with the group afterward.
