Double Room (114 115). Please join the Irondequoit Historical Society on Thursday, November 5th, 2026, as we welcome Trish Corcoran, a Tonawanda Onondowaga, Bear Clan. She will speak with us about Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving traditions. Everyone loves Thanksgiving - gathering with loved ones, enjoying food, and being grateful. But what is the true history of Thanksgiving in America? Why is it a day of mourning for Native Americans? And yet the Haudenosaunee celebrate with a Thanksgiving Address every day, and we wish more people would! Indigenous traditional scientists and western science believe the world would be healthier if we all did. Come learn why. Trish teaches Indigenous and Environmental Studies at the Harley School to all grade levels. She is currently serving on the Board of the Genesee Land Trust as well as Friends of Ganondagan. She is co-chair of Rochester Indigenous People's Day, and she runs educational events throughout the year. Trish also serves on the Indigenous Advisory Council for the Climate Solutions Accelerator, the Indigenous Peoples' Health Coalition, and is a reader for the Witness to Injustice blanket exercise.
