About this event
Estes Valley Community Center - Classroom. An interactive introduction to songwriting that covers “catching” song ideas, crafting songs intentionally, song elements, structure, starting points, motives, and topics. Participants will contribute ideas, try short exercises, and write a song collaboratively. This introductory workshop provides an overview of the songwriting process for adults, including those with little or no previous songwriting experience. It will emphasize exploration and participation rather than formal music theory or lecture-based instruction. Participants are welcome to bring their instruments for accompaniment. Space is limited, so please register to attend. Nadine Sekerez, longtime Estes Park resident and now Lyons-based songwriter, teacher, and musician, will facilitate the workshop. Back in the day, Nadine taught herself guitar so she could perform solo and accompany her own songs, and she currently writes original, harmony-focused, bluegrass-influenced Americana music for Lost Penny, the band she co-founded. She also leads an annual songwriting retreat and is the force behind the annual Snowygrass festival.
