Thursdays: October 8–December 17 (no class on November 19 or 26) 7:00–8:30 PM This course will provide an accessible introduction to the history, philosophy, and core wisdom of Jewish mystical tradition. Together we will explore the development of Kabbalistic thought from its early sources in the Hebrew Bible through the Zohar and more modern teachings, examining foundational concepts such as the Sefirot, divine emanation, and the relationship between hidden and revealed reality. Through both study and reflection, participants will engage with enduring questions of meaning, purpose, and spiritual growth. We will consider how Kabbalistic ideas can inform ethical living and a deeper sense of connection to self, community, and the Divine. This course is designed for learners of all backgrounds, offering a grounded and welcoming entry point into this rich tradition. Series: $360 About the Instructor Dr. Zach Mann is a passionate Jewish educator of children and adults of all ages. In addition to a BA in Political Science from Binghamton University (SUNY), he holds an MA and PhD from The Jewish Theological Seminary. Zach has taught at Rutgers University, Brooklyn College, The Jewish Theological Seminary, and a variety of synagogue settings. He spent 11 years as a teacher and administrator at the Rodeph Sholom School in Manhattan, and he currently serves as an administrator at Schechter Bergen. Regardless of the topic, he believes that all good teaching is about nurturing students’ intellectual curiosity and facilitating engaging conversation.
