Intro to Italic Calligraphy

Discover the timeless art of beautiful handwriting in this workshop led by Terry Kessler Schwarz. You will learn the fundamentals of letter formation, proper pen technique, spacing, and layout, which will allow you to create elegant, legible lettering. Enjoy a relaxing and rewarding creative experience, and then use your new skills to personalize journals, design greeting cards, address envelopes, and add a special touch to handwritten notes. No experience is necessary. All materials are provided. Admission: $68 Members: $62 About the Instructor Terry Kessler Schwarz is a professional calligrapher, illustrator, painter, and teacher. She holds a BFA from Syracuse University and an MFA from Tufts University, School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Her freelance work has appeared in such publications as The New York Times, House Beautiful, Restaurant Business, Gannett Newspapers and Westchester Magazine. Terry’s calligraphy clients have included Louis Vuitton, Tiffany’s. and Betteridge Jewelers. She has exhibited her paintings and drawings in New York City, Connecticut, and Westchester. For many years Terry has been a teaching artist for ArtsWestchester and has also taught adults and children at the Hudson River Museum, Neuberger Museum, Pelham Art Center, Scarsdale Public Schools, Scarsdale Adult School, The Center for Continuing Education Larchmont/Mamaroneck, Scarsdale Library, New City Library and Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester.
