Have you explored basic genealogy records like the census and vital records, and are wondering what to do next? Intermediate Genealogy: Part 1 will help you move beyond the basics and dig deeper into your family history research. In this class, you will learn how to properly cite your sources, and how to access and interpret the following record types in depth: census records, church and government vital records, cemetery records, military records, and newspaper obituaries. You'll also become familiar with key genealogy and records terminology, including terms like enumerator, census schedules, baptism vs. birth record, DD-214, MOS (Military Occupational Specialty), service number, and more, so you can navigate these resources with confidence. This FREE, three-hour class will give you the tools and clues you need to take your family history research to the next level. We'll also review the genealogy databases available through your library and from home. Handouts will be provided.
