Integral Honors Thesis Defense: Kaiyan Basran
Kaiyan Basran will present his Integral Honors Thesis defense: “How Does the Length of Shutdowns Affect the Market for Live Music? Evidence from Covid-19 Policy Choices” This study examines how Covid-19 shutdown policies affected the supply of live music performance opportunities across the United States. Using a novel panel dataset consisting of 2,700 city-month observations (2015-2024) and fixed-effects analysis, it finds that longer shutdowns significantly reduced concerts. The industry-level rebound took over 12 months, while city-level rebounds took 6 months, highlighting the persistent effect of shutdown policies on the live music supply.
