Integral Honors Thesis Defense: Alisaundre Finnerty
Alisaundre Finnerty will present her Integral Honors Thesis defense: “A Dynamic Understanding of the Complex Nature of Child Sexual Abuse” Child sexual abuse is a pervasive and complex social issue that effects all populations. In the last several decades, researchers have attempted to understand the nature of child abusers, the impacts of child abuse on victims, and the most effective treatment and prevention methods to combat child sexual abuse. Through an extensive literature review, this thesis aims to portray a deep understanding of the dynamics of child abuse and understand how local communities in New York State work to protect children. Similar to any other societal issue, there is room for improvement in the way that victims are supported and how child sexual abuse is prevented. This thesis offers ways of bridging the gap between current measures and the most effective practices.
