Experience a vibrant musical awakening that journeys from intimate, sun-drenched landscapes to the pinnacle of late-Romantic splendor. Jessie Montgomery’s deeply moving Hymn for Everyone, and Arthur Honegger’s Pastorale d’été open the program with warmth and shimmering beauty. Followed by a shift to the avant-garde as Percussion soloist Andrew Pongracz, takes center stage for Darius Milhaud’s electrifying, explosive Concerto for Percussion and Small Orchestra, before the ensemble dives into the composer’s wildly surreal, Brazilian-jazz-infused carnival ride, Le bœuf sur le toit. The evening culminates with the dramatic power of Bruckner’s Overture in G Minor and Sibelius’s monumental Symphony No. 2, a triumphant anthem of hope and liberation.
