About this event

Create a little piece of Innisfree to enjoy at home all winter long. Join Innisfree trustee and horticulturist Brad Roeller for a hands-on workshop inspired by the garden’s mossy, rocky, wooded landscapes. Brad will provide a variety of natural materials from around Innisfree, which may include mosses, small plants, gravel, stones, bark, and lichen-covered twigs and branches: everything needed to create a miniature Innisfree landscape inside a two-gallon glass jar. Along the way, Brad will share tips for arranging, planting, and caring for your terrarium, while encouraging everyone to create something uniquely their own. The finished terrarium is yours to take home, a small living reminder of Innisfree to enjoy during the winter months, when you may be missing the garden most. Come on your own, with a partner or friend, or make it a family project. Kids are welcome with an accompanying adult! Registration is per terrarium, not per person: one fee covers one terrarium and the people working together to create it, as well as all materials needed to complete it and take it home. Please register a primary contact to reserve your supplies and then register the people accompanying you as free guests. Registration below. Cost: $75 per terrarium Rain or shine. In fair weather, the workshop will take place outdoors in the garden. In the event of rain, activities will move indoors. Capacity for this workshop is limited to 10 terrariums and pre-registration is required. Brad Roeller Retired but actively involved in planning and managing the Innisfree landscape, Brad Roeller offers a wealth of ideas and expertise to gardeners at every level. His long-term research has focused on ecologically driven and sustainable landscape practices, gardening in areas with high deer populations, and landscape plants for northern gardens. Brad held top horticultural positions at the Cary Institute of Ecosystems Studies, the New York Botanical Garden, and a storied private estate.…
