Visit the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid for its Inked in History event on Friday, November 13, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the signing of Senate Bill 806. The bill was signed by Governor Brad Henry and took effect on November 1, 2006. It legalized tattooing in Oklahoma, making it the last state to do so. At this special event, visitors will learn about the history of tattooing in Oklahoma and its roots in Indigenous cultures. Local tattoo artists will be on hand to provide flash tattoos to those interested. Entry to this event is included in the regular museum admission fee. Those seeking a tattoo must be 18 years of age and present a valid ID. Tattoos are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to a separate fee payable to the artist. Some artists only accept cash. The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center does not have an ATM on site, so please be prepared in advance.
