Idea to Etsy in Six Weeks!-Youth Ed

Have you ever thought about designing a product and selling it to the masses? Lots of people have different ideas they want to see in the world but many of those ideas never get past the daydream stage. How will I make the product, how should I price my work, and how can I get paid to make the products I want to see? In this class, you will prototype a small desk lamp, first using cardboard, then refine your design using Inkscape, produce your desk lamp parts using a laser cutter, and finish your product for sale online or a craft fair. Each week we research, write, and publish a listing for sale on your own Etsy page. We will use spreadsheets to determine how long your product will take to make, package, and find the correct pricing for your desk lamp. (Students will need their parents' permission to set up an Etsy account) This programming runs on 6 Wednesdays from 2:00pm-3:30, during the dates of September 9th through October 14th. Full tuition cost is $175. A non-refundable deposit of $75 materials fee is applicable and goes toward the cost of tuition. This class is designed for ages 10-14. Students will need access to a computer with the ability to download Inkscape and have a familiarity with Inkscape or other design programs.
