About this event
esperanza spalding is a Doris Duke Artist, Ford Fellow, and Grammy Award-winning bassist, singer, composer, and educator whose work defies traditional boundaries between jazz, classical music, theater, poetry, and social practice. A former professor at Harvard University and the founder of Prismid Sanctuary, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering healing, creativity, and community through the arts and ecology, she is known for continually reinventing her creative practice while inviting others to discover their own. Rather than treating art as performance alone, esperanza explores how artistic expression can deepen human connection, restore human relationships to land & community, and invite forth the healing potential of the arts.
