About this event

If Christians would wholeheartedly embrace humility, our witness in the world can be radically improved. Humility is often misunderstood, overlooked, or even disparaged. Such is the case today and was also true in the early days of the Jesus movement. However, humility is part of Christ’s self-description (Matthew 11:29) and ought to be an identifier of his followers. Let’s recover Scripture’s presentation of humility, dispel some myths about it, and accept the invitation to live humbly. The Dean’s Forum discussion is free and is open to the public. No RSVP required for those joining online. Registration is only required for those planning to attend in person at Gordon-Conwell—Hamilton. Lunch will be provided for those attending in person. Registration closes on Wednesday, September 9 The Dean’s Forum is hosted by the Academic Dean’s office. The event will take place in Alumni Hall in Kerr Building at the Hamilton campus of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. It will be streamed live through Facebook and at www.gcts.edu/live. ABOUT THE SPEAKERS Rev. Dr. Dennis R. Edwards is currently Senior Research Faculty at Northern Seminary (Lisle, IL). Until recently, Dr. Edwards was Seminary Dean and Vice President for Church Relations at North Park Theological Seminary, after having previously served as Associate Professor of New Testament. He has nearly four decades of urban pastoral ministry experience and is the author of Humility Illuminated: The Biblical Path Back to Christian Character (IVP), 1 Peter in the Story of God Bible Commentary series (Zondervan), What is the Bible and How Do We Understand It? (Herald Press), Might from the Margins: The Gospel’s Power to Turn the Tables on Injustice (Herald Press), along with several academic essays. Dr. Davi C.
