Explore two important programs—one regional and one national—that help homeowners create and support biodiversity right here in our community.Whether you are an experienced gardener or are just getting started, this presentation will provide practical ideas, inspiration, and resources to help you make a difference for biodiversity in Skokie. Come learn how your own landscape can become part of a larger effort to create a healthier, more resilient environment for all. Jack Schooley, University of Illinois Extension educator, will introduce Conservation@Home, a program that educates and certifies homeowners, schools, and communities that use conservation-minded landscaping practices to create healthier habitats for wildlife and pollinators.Pam Karlson, educator and regional speaker on native gardening, will present on Homegrown National Park, a nationwide movement dedicated to inspiring people to plant native species and remove invasive plants in their yards and neighborhoods. These simple actions can have a significant impact on restoring and protecting the ecosystems that support birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.Presented in partnership with the Skokie Beautification and Improvement Commission.
