Horno Baking Workshop

Advance registration required Join Eye of the Horno for a hands-on workshop where you, the participant, will learn the practical skills for cooking in earthen ovens. This two-hour introductory class will walk you through how to make pizzas in the horno. Following a demonstration by the instructor, you will go through all the steps to bake your own pizzas in the horno, so bring your appetites! What we will cover: -how to roll your dough -how to top your pizza -how to bake your pizza in a wood-fired oven We will also discuss temperature control and safety when baking in adobe hornos. For those with dietary restrictions: Customized alternatives provided upon request to accommodate dietary restrictions. Amaury’s interest in Land Art led him to Adobe, from making compositions rearranging elements of the landscape to literally making things out of the earth. He is the founder of Eye of the Horno, an organization dedicated to maintaining the practice of earth building and wood-fired cooking using earthen ovens. Amaury is a student of Ernest Aragon, a legendary adobe builder in New Mexico and a recipient of the The Earthbuilders’ Honorary Lifetime Member Award. Over the last few years, Amaury has introduced over 150 people to the craft of adobe through his building workshops, partnering with organizations such the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps, The Semilla Project, the Santa Fe Indian School, and the Santa Fe Botanical Garden.
