Melania Bohach ’26 will defend her Integral Honors Thesis: “The Impact of Isolated Gut Microbiota on the Symptoms and Treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in C. elegans and How Mindfulness Can Reduce the Side Effects of ALS.” Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by the degeneration of motor neurons, leading to muscle weakness, paralysis, and ultimately death.
