Holiday Promenade- Tree Lighting with Santa

For 25 years, Holiday Promenade has turned the East Village into Des Moines’ favorite winter tradition — twinkling lights, live entertainment, and five Friday evenings of free, family-friendly fun. This year, we’re going bigger than ever to celebrate the milestone. This holiday season, join us for five Friday evenings that transform the East Village into a winter wonderland. Last year alone, more than 90,000 neighbors and visitors came out to celebrate with us — and this year, for our 25th anniversary, we’re marking the occasion with our biggest lineup yet. Tree Lighting Ceremony with Santa Claus Friday, Nov 20 | Brenton Skating Plaza | Tree Lighting Presented by Iowa State Bank The 25th Annual Holiday Promenade begins the way every great holiday season should: with Santa, a countdown and a tree full of lights. Start your evening with a Drag How the Grinch Stole Christmas Story Time, a fabulous, family-friendly retelling of the Dr. Seuss classic at Storyhouse Bookpub. Then gather at Brenton Skating Plaza as Santa Claus helps us light the tree and officially kick off the season in Des Moines. Schedule 5:30 p.m. Drag How the Grinch Stole Christmas Story Time 6:30 p.m. Tree Lighting with Santa Claus Before and after the lighting, wander over to the Historic East Village for holiday shopping, dinner and a stroll under the Locust Street lights.
