Holiday Promenade- Light Up the Night

For 25 years, Holiday Promenade has turned the East Village into Des Moines’ favorite winter tradition — twinkling lights, live entertainment, and five Friday evenings of free, family-friendly fun. This year, we’re going bigger than ever to celebrate the milestone. This holiday season, join us for five Friday evenings that transform the East Village into a winter wonderland. Last year alone, more than 90,000 neighbors and visitors came out to celebrate with us — and this year, for our 25th anniversary, we’re marking the occasion with our biggest lineup yet. Light Up the Night with Santa Claus & Ice Sculptor Friday, Dec 18 | Across the East Village | Presented by East Village Spa We’re closing out the 25th Annual Holiday Promenade with our brightest night yet. Extra holiday lights will sparkle across the Historic East Village as we make the whole neighborhood shine with holiday cheer. Stop by participating stores to grab a free glow stick, then join the glow for a picture-perfect moment under the lights. Head to Locust Street to watch a live ice sculpting demonstration as artists carve frozen masterpieces before your eyes. The live demonstration is from 5:30-7pm. Head over to the State Historical Museum to meet Santa Claus and tell him what you want for Christmas from 5-8pm. It’s your last Promenade Friday of the season, so bring your camera, your crew and your holiday spirit, and wrap up those final gifts at our local shops.
