The Friends of RPL Community Room. Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with us on Saturday, September 26, from 10 am to 1pm! Bring the whole family and enjoy live music and performances, crafts, hair braiding, face painting, a Hispanic Heritage Art and Drawing workshop for children, food, a piñata, and more. Free and open to everyone! ------ ¡Venga a celebrar con nosotros el Mes de la Herencia Hispana el sábado 26 de septiembre, de 10 am a 1 pm! Traiga a toda la familia y disfrute de música y presentaciones en vivo, manualidades, trenzas con listones, pintura de caritas, taller de arte y dibujo de la Herencia Hispana para niños, comida, piñata y mucho más. ¡Gratis y abierto para todos! 10:00 to 10:05 AM | Welcome Welcome and introduction to our Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. 10:05 to 10:20 AM | Hermanitas Álvarez Mariachi Performance Hermanitas Álvarez will perform “Cumbia Cusinela,” a lively song rooted in Wixárika (Huichol) culture. Sung in the Wixárika language, the song celebrates a cook and traditional foods while bringing Indigenous culture together with the joyful rhythm of cumbia. 10:30 to 11:00 AM | Barbie Gutiérrez Performance Barbie Gutiérrez will present her interpretation of “El Cóndor Pasa,” one of Peru’s most recognized musical works. The performance will also include a little history about Peru and the cultural significance of the song. 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM | Activities for All Ages Enjoy hair braiding, face painting, button making, and crafts for all ages. 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM | Children’s Art Class with Lupita Albarrán Local artist Lupita Albarrán will lead a Frida Kahlo-inspired art class for children using markers, colored pencils, and crayons. 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM | Food and Drinks Enjoy nachos, churros, and drinks.
