Hiking Harrington Beach Last Leaf Finale!

Couldn’t pass up another great fall weekend with amazing weather. Shadows lengthening. Barn swallows left. A chill in the mornings. Hoodies and socks become once again, part of the routine. The lake is at her best. The turquoise blue water is glistening in the sunlight and looking glorious! The grasslands have made a tunnel. So cool to walk thru. This is a SATURDAY hike! Wisconsin has short summers! One last flourish of wildflowers. And then everything just stops growing. We will alternate Saturdays and Sundays due to scheduling and weather. Finally! Mud has dried up (somewhat) and flowers are BLOOMING in the grasslands! Trees have stopped falling down (?) yeah, it’s a thing here. Trails maybe interesting. Can’t say we won’t encounter some mud. Dress for everything. We gotta use these good weather days whenever we can! Don’t forget water bottles. Tick season is here. Spray waist down. I’ll hand out tick cards before the hike starts. Don’t be late! Check this post early for Weather updates as it’s too far out keep track of rain/snow (?) Usually we go, after all, we are Wisconsinites! We are meeting at Pucketts Pond parking lot. Hiking will start PROMPTLY at 10:00 Please arrive 15 minutes before start time to use restrooms and to get organized. If you miss the 10:00 start time, wait at the east side of pucketts pond parking lot as we will be coming off the grasslands trail at 10:15 and will pick up strays at that point. Check the comments early am if weather is a factor. If thunderstorms are in-the area we will not hike. Rain, depends on severity. **This will be a 4 to 5 mile hike walking grasslands, wooded trails, some paved roads, beaches, wooden bridges and SWAMPY areas. Brisk walking speed is encouraged. Hiking boots are preferred as we are in swamps. We will have 15 minute break at the beach to roam, take in the sights, mingle and photograph the incredible view.
