Ingram serves as secretary-treasurer of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), representing 1.8 million educators, healthcare professionals, and public employees nationwide. Previously, he led the 140,000-member Florida Education Association and served as an AFT vice president. Since 2020, he has been a national advocate for education, labor, and racial justice. Ingram has served on the NAACP Foundation Board of Trustees and the Presidential Advisory Commission on Advancing Educational Equity. A Miami native, he earned degrees from Bethune-Cookman University and Barry University and is a respected leader in education, organized labor, and public service. The Hero of a Thousand Faces Project shares the stories of 1,000 accomplished Black men, highlighting diverse experiences, achievements, and insights. Perspective shapes how we see the world and solve its challenges.
