About this event
Come see ArMarlon Barbour, author of the children's book Begin Your Race Being a Tortoise. Grounded in his proprietary Barbour Pedagogical Model™ and In My Shell™ framework, this book centers on turning narrative fables into actionable psychological frameworks that promote self-regulation, resilience, and trauma-informed growth. ArMarlon is an intensely energetic educator, mental health professional, and founder of BYR Learning, LLC. He overcame a challenging upbringing on the streets of Baltimore to inspire young people nationwide. Drawing on decades of youth mentorship, starting with PA State GEAR UP and expanding through the BPM podcast, he bridges lived experience, brain science, and emotional regulation. His mission is to help youth reject legacies of fear, shame, and low self-esteem to realize their full potential. Read, discuss, and connect with other writers and readers in our community. Local authors sign up and share their books. Visit henricolibrary.org/authors for details. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The Henrico Community Authors Showcase is a self-service program for local authors. Please note that the Library does not endorse the content, quality, position, or opinions of participating authors or their works. While the library may promote the offering of this service to the community, it is the responsibility of authors to promote their individual showcase events according to the author guidelines.
