About this event

Over the course of one whirlwind day, a determined Chicago actress manages auditions, heartbreak, and self-doubt while fighting to find her voice. Sharp, funny, and deeply felt, with a dash of avant-garde, it’s a portrait of an artist on the brink of becoming herself. Hekla (a comedy-drama feature) is a love letter to Chicago’s theater and film communities. Set over one hectic day in Chicago, it explores how ambition, identity, and vulnerability collide when you’re chasing an acting career. Following the film there will be a Q&A with Director Michael Glover Smith.
