Handpan Group Lessons at Muso in Madison, WI on Monday, May 18, 2026.
IMPORTANT: We will start the group at 5:30, shifting our start time 15 minutes earlier. Want to learn to play the handpan? The Handpan Meetup is a learning community where players come to learn key handpan skills together in a supportive environment. A handpan is a steel drum, shaped like a hollow orb or a kettle grill, that is played with the hands. Our learning community focuses on building basic handpan skills, learning new patterns, drilling for muscle memory, and working together to share feedback and learn. If you have never played handpan before, please join us! We will have instruments to share and welcome new players. Each week we focus on a different skill: touch, posture, fluid movement, hand balance, rhythm, and grooves. We learn exercises to practice skills and get to play music together. If you are completely new to handpans, you are welcome to join the group lesson. Please RSVP and let me know you need to borrow a handpan and I will bring an instrument for you to play. Additionally, look for upcoming Introduction to Handpans 101 Workshops, which is a 2-hour workshop for people who have never played handpan before and want to try out the instrument and listen to a few different scales. The instructor is Addi Faerber. I have been playing handpans for 4 years, performs with the Wellspring Collective and at local yoga studios, teaches private handpan lessons, and is organizing the Heartland Hangout Handpan Gathering\. \| \[Linktr.ee\]\(https://linktr\.ee/addif\) \| Youtube \| Instagram \| Fee: Sliding scale $5 to $25.
