HAMPTONS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL: WICKER

About this event

105 min • Narrative Feature • Hungary • 2026 Tired of her solitary existence in her medieval English village, an ostracized fisherwoman (Academy Award® winner Olivia Colman) commissions a husband to be made by the local basketmaker (Emmy Award® winner Peter Dinklage). When her wicker husband (Emmy Award winner Alexander Skarsgård) proves more spectacular than she ever imagined, his soulful spirit and unique prowess awaken something inside her, setting off a wave of jealousy, fascination, and upheaval that threatens the very fabric of village life. An audacious comedic fable about sex, marriage, and the absurdities of social convention, WICKER electrified Sundance this year with its off-the-wall, raunchy charm and the playful performances from its well-known leads. Writer-directors Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer weave a wholly original love story elevated by clever, salacious dialogue and highly entertaining performances. A Black Bear release. A Q&A is expected to follow the screening.
