About this event
125 min • Narrative Feature • Australia, USA • 2026 In 1953 Nepal, a British expedition including Colonel John Hunt (Willem Dafoe) and Edmund Hillary (Tom Hiddleston) sets out to become the first to ever summit Mount Everest. Gifted Himalayan climber Tenzing Norgay (Genden Phuntsok), driven by a deep spiritual connection to the mountain, earns himself an unlikely position not just as a sherpa, but an official team member—but can he overcome his outsider status to guide them to the peak? Based on true events, HIFF alum Jennifer Peedom’s (SHERPA, MOUNTAIN) TENZING grippingly captures the heart-pounding challenges of the perilous mission and celebrates the little-known story of the man who achieved the impossible.
