About this event
Explore a vital wildlife corridor in midcoast Maine Enjoy an afternoon hike along the River~Link Trail where we will walk old farm roads, traverse the side of Hunger Mountain, cross a few small streams and look for special plants like rattlesnake plantain along the way. This wildlife corridor is one of the few large blocks of intact land along this region of the coast, providing critical habitat for moose, deer, bobcats, bears and other big mammals. We will look for signs of wildlife as we hike. We will meet at River~Link’s north trailhead on River Road (just south of the Dodge Point parking lot on the opposite side of the road), and carpool to the McKay Road to begin our hike. This is a three-hour walk through the woods. Participants should bring water and snacks, appropriate clothing, and wear good walking shoes or boots. There may be ticks around, so please take precautions and be sure to check yourself over after our outing. We love dogs, but ask that you leave them at home for this guided hike.
