Guest Lecture Cortnie Matthews

Matthews, originally from Raceland, Louisiana, is driven by a lifelong curiosity and a passion for tactile creation. Her multidisciplinary practice pushes a wide range of media—including casting, fabrication, glass, papermaking, fibers, soft sculpture, and wood—to their absolute limits. She tests the strength, flexibility, and vulnerability of diverse materials to bring her conceptual vision to life, sharing the story of an unexpected discovery that quickly became her discipline and lifelong pursuit.
