Grow Up With a View-Master? Free Admission to 3D-Con at Clyde Hotel!

Growing up, I visited the Pyramids, Golden Gate Bridge, and Eiffel Tower, not in reality, not in virtual reality, but by using my parents' (grandparents?) View-Master! View-Masters, like their mid-1800s ancestors, exploit the fact that our left and right eyes view objects at slightly different angles, creating a subjective sense of perceptual depth. At first glance, a View-Master and a Meta Quest 3 seem to have little in common. One is a plastic toy from my childhood. The other is a sophisticated computer worn on the face. Yet both rely on the same trick: give each eye a slightly different image and the brain constructs a three-dimensional world.
