meet at 9.45, depart at 10. meet in the lobby on the parking lot entrance side . 4 walking fee ( 3 club members), please bring exact cash or check Wellesley, incorporated in 1881 after two centuries being part of neighboring towns, developed as a deliberately planned town. Frederick Law Olmsted designed the railroad stations. Carefully laid out parks and preservation of open space were high priorities. The walk route consists of a 10km route (southern and eastern loops) plus two 5km optional routes with each loop beginning at the Wellesley Free Library. Three loops incorporate the Fuller Brook Trail, a popular public walking path along the quiet Fuller and Caroline Brooks; the fourth loop includes the equally enjoyable Crosstown Trail. All loops pass through residential and shopping/dining areas. The southern loop is mostly in residential neighborhoods, passes an independent boarding & day school for approximately 500 girls in grades 5- 12, traverses part of the Fuller Brook Trail, and returns to the Library via a downtown area consisting of many small shops and eateries. The eastern loop follows a portion of the Boston Marathon route for a short distance before continuing through a residential area, a few blocks of businesses, and coming back to the Library via the Fuller Brook Trail. The western loop, only available when Wellesley College Campus is open to the public, follows a portion of the Boston Marathon route through the downtown, continues onto Wellesley College campus, and circles back to the Start/Finish via the Fuller Brook Trail. The northern loop goes through the center of town, follows the Crosstown Trail, continues into a residential area, then returns to Library through town.
