2026 SPRING CHESS TOURNAMENT Join us for the Mississippi Children’s Museum’s Spring Chess Tournament on April 11, 2026! Since school and community chess programs have been created and revitalized, the 1500-year-old game has seen a resurgence in Mississippi. These tournaments are an important opportunity for children in Mississippi to not only exercise their skills, but self-confidence. A growing body of research indicates that playing chess improves students’ problem solving and critical thinking skills, which directly translates to their math, science and reading scores. Unrated Divisions: Unrated Divisions will play 5 Rounds SS, G/20, d5 K-2 Grade K-4 Grade K-6 Grade K-12 Grade Rated Divisions (Adults Welcomed): Rated Divisions will play 4 Rounds SS, G/30, d10. U600 U1100 OPEN Registration Fees: $25 Online Entry Fee for Tournament Participants ($30 after online registration closes) $5 Online for Each Accompanying Adult/Child ($8 after online registration closes) All fees will increase for day-of participants. All entry fees include access to all museum exhibits for the duration of the event Pre-registration is recommended & appreciated. Check-in and on-site registration will be available from 9:00am – 10:00am. Online Registration closes at 12:00 PM April 9th!
