GOT Space: Solar Telescope & UV Bead Bracelets

Normally we can only use a telescope at night, but a solar telescope can be used in broad daylight. By applying a specific filter that only lets in a certain type of light, kids will be able to safely observe the Sun and its various features. Afterwards, kids will make bracelets using UV-reacting beads, which change color when exposed to the Sun. Georgia Outreach Team for Space (GOT Space) is an outreach program affiliated with the Georgia Space Grant Consortium, the National Science Foundation, the Georgia Institute of Technology and other universities. The GOT Space team, in which one of the graduate leaders is a current astronomy Ph.D. candidate at GSU, creates presentations and hands-on activities that focus on current science and astronomy and brings those to schools, museums and other student programs.
