About this event

This Monday class, 10:00am - 3:30pm, meets weekly a total of 4 times, Sept. 9th - Sept.30th. Single class semester tuition is $250 and it covers all tuition and material costs. Class Description: This class celebrates the intersection of chemistry and craft. WPI Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Grimm, and Technocopia glass artist, Molly Jackson, will work alongside one another to bring the chemical and artistic properties of glass in full light. Students can expect to gain an understanding of glass within; states of matter and thermodynamics, atomic and molecular components, ionic compounds and crystallization, and color and light. Students will learn the art of flameworking and how to use the glass shop and its tools properly and safely. Students will spend 2.5 hours with each instructor (Dr. Grimm and Ms. Jackson) every Monday, to engage in a chemistry lesson and lab, and work on glass studio projects.
