Giddy Up! Equus in Art

Saddle up for a delightful journey through art! Our newest exhibition, From the Vault: Giddy Up! Equus in Art, celebrates the horse through a fascinating variety of artworks and objects from the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art's permanent collection. From bronze sculptures attributed to Frederic Remington and colorful carousel horses to paintings, a wooden horse mask, and Native American drawings, this exhibition explores the many ways horses have inspired artists across cultures and generations. Best of all, approximately 75% of the objects have never been exhibited before! It's a rare opportunity to discover some of the museum's hidden treasures. We've even created a special seating area in the center of the gallery, inviting visitors to settle in, slow down, and spend a little time with one of the paintings. Sometimes the best way to appreciate art is simply to sit and look. Whether you're a horse lover, an art enthusiast, or just curious about what's been tucked away in the museum's collection, there's something here to surprise and delight you. On view through October 31. Don't miss it!
