About this event

Examining Exoplanets: Where Is The Red? Dec 4th | 7:00 – 8:00 pm Definitive evidence of planets around other stars, or “exoplanets,” only dates to the early 1990s. Since then, astronomers have engaged in the challenging task of studying these difficult-to-see objects from afar. In this presentation, we will explore one specific example of a missing shade of red and what it tells us about hydrogen and planetary evaporation. Free tickets will be available to reserve at 8:00 AM CT on Friday 11/27. Reserve Your Tickets Here Shows are recommended for engaged grade school students through adults. Shows are strongly discouraged for ages 2 and under. Please be prepared to turn off phones and smartwatches, remove lighted shoes, etc., so that all participants may enjoy the show in its intended dark, quiet environment. Please arrive 5 minutes before your show, or ticket reservations may be released to allow for walk-in attendees. In conjunction with the show, the UNK Astronomy Club will hold telescope observing outside of Bruner Hall of Science @ 8:00 PM (weather permitting).
