Free Mighty WurliTzer Organ Concert

Enjoy the sounds of our historic Mighty WurliTzer theatre organ, featuring organists Peter DiGioia and Mark Niewiemski. Admission is free, with general seating. Peter DiGioia has been on the local music scene for over 30 years, adding his keyboard talents to many legendary bands such as Transition, Big Wheelie and the Hubcaps, and currently the Boys of Summer. His first experience with the Riviera’s Mighty Wurlitzer was opening for the 20th anniversary Stoogefest in 2012, and he continues to be the annual Stoogefest opener. Peter joined the ranks of Riviera staff organists in 2024 bringing a diverse variety of traditional favorites, rock, pop and even TV themes to the Mighty Wurlitzer. His first featured concert appearance will be an eclectic mix of songs, including some you never thought you’d hear on the organ! Be prepared to sit back, enjoy, and take in a performance that will leave you smiling. Mark Niewiemski is an Organist born and raised in the Buffalo area. Growing up in Lancaster, he became enamored with the sound of the pipe organ while in Kindergarten as a student at St. Mary’s Elementary School attending Friday masses each week. He subsequently began taking piano lessons as a 5th grader with the intent to play the organ for church later on. Mark soon thereafter began filling in for the occasional mass at St Mary of the Assumption Church in Lancaster, then as a student at Buffalo State University he became Director of Music at the Newman Center at Buffalo State. During the diocese reorganization, Newman Center merged with nearby Church of the Assumption in Black Rock where Mark currently resides as regular organist for the 4:30 PM Saturday Masses, Organist/Pianist for the 10 AM Sunday Mass and filling in where needed for the parishes in the Catholic Community of Buffalo North. While not playing music for mass, he works by day as a Cash & Trade Analyst for Citigroup in Getzville. By night he is a drummer and keyboardist frequently playing out, filling in…
